Jim Bregante--San Diego Waterfront Through the Eyes of A Child

Join Jim Bregante, a native of San Diego 's Little Italy, as he shares his widely acclaimed presentation, “ San Diego 's Waterfront Through the Eyes of a Child.”



Jim shares his experience of growing up on the waterfront and Little Italy via a PowerPoint presentation. He features pictures from historical and family archives that depict his family's start in the fishing industry, his experiences on the waterfront as a youth and life in Little Italy.Jim's sensory details of his childhood allow one to imagine walking along the San Diego waterfront and Little Italy 60 years ago. It's free – Come, sit back, relax, reminisce and enjoy!

Lori Escalera, Artist in Residence

Artist Lori Escalera will be joining the Sicilian Festival this year creating a traditional Italian style oil painting for the public to enjoy. You can stop by and chat with the artist and watch the painting develop over the course of the day!
Escalera has centered her artistic life in the suburbs of Southern California, and traveled abroad to Spain, Italy and Greece to study the Classics and Antiquities.

Vince Sardina, Fishing Boat Model Master Craftsman

Vince Sardina, a native of Santa Flavia, Sicily and a master craftsman will display his exquisite fishing boat models. His continuing passion for building these beautiful works of art can be traced to his boyhood days in Sicily when at age 10 he built his first craft with the same precision as he practices today. Don't miss this fine display at the Sicilian Cultural pavilion on Date Street.

Sicilian Photo Display

Sicilian Festival Organizer Giovanna DiBona, who is also an accomplished photographer and journalist, will feature 20 posters displaying her favorite photos shot during a recent trip to Sicily.
